IRISH SQUADS CONFIRMED FOR PONY EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS AT MILLSTREET

HORSE Sport Ireland has confirmed the Dressage, Eventing and Show Jumping squads for the 2014 European Championships in Millstreet, Ireland, which take place from July 30 until August 3.

DRESSAGE
The Pony Dressage squad in alphabetical order is:
Katie Burns – Caracas II
Alana Cazabon Sullivan – Schermeer S Hof Arendsoog 
Linnea Larkin- Goofy

High Performance Pony Dressage Team Manager Anne Marie Dunphy said today: “I am delighted to present the first team of the HSI High Performance Dressage Programme at the forthcoming European Championships. The support we are receiving from equestrian enthusiasts across all disciplines has been overwhelming and we look forward to welcoming the other nations to Millstreet”

EVENTING
The Pony Eventing Squad for the championships  in alphabetical order is:
Sophie Buller – G Maha
Fionn Clarke – Black Velvet Band
Patrick Dennehy – Rose Down
Lucy Hancock – Newtown Westie
Shannon Sheridan – Drop The Subject
Mary Smiddy – Mr Hale Bob

After the trot up in Millstreet the Team Manager will select the team of four from these six.

The squad reserves that will compete as individuals are as follows:
Emma Kennedy – Laburnum Ineer
Maresa Ronan – My Rustic Clover

The four additional individual riders in alphabetical order are:
Lucy Arkwright – Sally McNally
Jessica Kuehnle – Fernhill Ruby
Isabel Persse – Mr Blueskies
Alex Power – Keredern Little Heather

High Performance Pony Eventing Team Manager Polly Holohan said: “I am very happy with the squad we have selected for this year’s European Championships in Millstreet. The riders have risen to the challenge and the selection process has worked well. It is also a wonderful opportunity, with the championships being on home ground, to be able to field 12 combinations.”

SHOW JUMPING
The Pony Show Jumping squad in alphabetical order is:
Nicholas Connors – Mighty Patch
Susan Fitzpatrick – Rock Dee Jay 
Grace McHugh – Cassandra Van Het Roelhof
Sean Monaghan – Attyrory Rebel
Michael Pender – Doon Laddie

The team of four to compete in the Nations Cup will be selected by the Team Manager from these five combinations.

The reserve is:
Kayleigh Soden – Castle Hill King

High Performance Pony Show Jumping Team Manager Tom Slattery said:  “I am very pleased with the team we have selected for this year’s European Championships.  Although they are a young and relatively inexperienced team I am confident that they will step up to the mark and do us all proud. With a bit of luck on the day I think we can secure a medal.”
