Irish Star Lands in Sydney on inter dominion trail in Harness Racing

Meadowbranch DJ, Ireland’s Inter Dominion entry, has landed in Sydney following a forty-one hour flight from London Heathrow.
The star pacer from Dublin has been stationed at Newmarket since late August, undergoing quarantine as Australian regulations require. He flew to the Australian capital on Thursday via Amsterdam, Sharjah and Singapore before he finally landed ‘down under’ on Friday.
Unfortunately “DJ” as he is more affectionately known “suffered a bout of travel sickness two hours from Sydney and the vet was brought in swiftly to examine him,” says trainer, William Flanagan. “Hopefully we caught it early and on examination this morning the vet was happy with his condition and his temperature was nearly back to normal. He’s back eating well too.
“DJ seems pretty well and he is a bit more lively each day which is a good sign. He’s been doing daily work using the Treadmill kindly provided by the Cranbourne Harness Racing Training Centre”
“We’re starting to get excited about what’s ahead; he’s been allotted twenty-one in the rankings and we’re getting a bit of respect from that. We’ll have his handicap confirmed soon so then we can plan his prep races before the Inter Dominion.”
Before “DJ” can complete his huge journey he must finish quarantine in Sydney, which ends on the 4th October. Connections are keen to find other possible Inter Dominion runners that could share the long domestic flight to Perth, where the 75th edition of the historic tournament will be contested.
