Irish Sport Horse Studbook reclaims top spot in WBFSH studbook rankings
- 12 October 2022, 20:50
Horse Sport Ireland is delighted with the announcement from the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) this week that the Irish Sport Horse (ISH) has reclaimed its place as the leading studbook for Eventing horses in 2022, moving up from 3rd place in 2021.
The WBFSH rankings also show that the ISH has maintained it’s top 10 placing for Showjumping horses, having had the same position in 2021.
In an even more positive development, the six horses, whose individual ranking count towards the overall studbook score, all placed within the top 25 internationally for event horses, and the top 100 for showjumpers.
“Horse Sport Ireland would like to congratulate the breeders, owners and riders of the horses who contributed to the success of the Irish Sport Horse in 2022 and their ranking, as well as to the connections of all horses who represent the Irish Sport Horse worldwide,” said Head of Breeding, Development and Innovation, Sonja Egan.
“Without the continued efforts of all of our breeders, the Irish Sport Horse would not be one of the leading sport horse studbooks in the world.
“That, added to the annual renewal of breeders chasing the dream of breeding a champion, there would be no horses to carry on the legacy of the Irish Sport Horse in the competition venues around the world.
“HSI would like to thank the owners, whose investment in these horses is vital in continually giving them the opportunity to compete on the world stage.
“To the riders, we thank you for the hard work, effort and dedication that goes towards producing these horses for competition, and providing Irish horses with the opportunity to demonstrate why they are the best in the world.
“To the grooms, vets, farriers, dentists, physios, nutritionists and all the ancillary roles that contribute towards keeping horses in peak physical condition, we thank you for your efforts. It is not unnoticed.
“HSI looks forward to continued success for the breeders, owners and riders of Irish Sport Horses, and wish you the very best of good luck as move into 2023 and beyond. We also look forward to the Irish Sport Horse Studbook once again being recognised as one of the leading studbooks in the world.”
