- 13 September 2014, 22:42
THE seemingly unstoppable Darragh Kenny from Offaly claimed his third major victory at the four star show in North Salem, New York tonight (Saturday) with a 6,000 euro win on Prof de la Rogue in the American Gold Cup Speed Derby.
The 26 year-old, who was a member of Ireland’s World Equestrian Games team last week, also saw Tyrone native Ronan McGuigan finish hot on his heels to take the runner-up spot with Capall Zidane.
Irish domination of the top ten continued with a fifth place from Cork’s Shane Sweetnam and his speed horse Cyklon, and a sixth from Kilkenny rider Richie Moloney and Alsvid.
Kenny had previously won the Welcome Stakes at North Salem with the Irish Sport Horse Gatsby on Thursday, and then brought out the same mount to take the trophy in Friday’s Grand Prix Qualifier.
