KENNY CONTINUES VICTORIOUS RUN AT FIVE STAR SPRUCE MEADOWS
- 11 July 2014, 14:11
IRELAND’S Darragh Kenny continued his seemingly unstoppable run of victories at Spruce Meadows in Canada with yet another win last night (Thursday).
The 26 year-old Offaly rider brought Oakland Ventures’s nine year-old mare Fantasy across the line in the fastest time in the Friends of the Meadows Cup to record the ninth win of his five week campaign at the famous venue outside Calgary in Alberta.
“She is a really, really interesting mare,” Kenny said of Fantasy after his latest win. “She has been placed a couple of times in the 1.45m classes. She did the two derbies here and she was very good in those. She is still quite green in her riding, but she is super brave, and I think she has a lot of ability. I think she can do really good things.”
Kenny racked up a hat trick of wins last week at the Canadian show, to add to five previous individual wins, as well as helping the Irish team to victory in the Canadian Nations’ Cup.
He is also one of the squad selected by Irish show jumping team manager for the Nations’ Cup at Aachen in Germany later this month.
Co. Down’s Conor Swail claimed fourth place in the Friends of the Meadows Cup last night aboard Susan Grange’s mare Ariana.
