Laois Youth Western Rider, Cody LeCumbre, qualifies for the AQHYA World Show in Oklahoma & Champions of Champions 2017.

The American Quarter Horse Association Region 8 Championship Show, held in Amarillo, Texas on June 15th through to June 19th, was very successful for the Irish Quarter Horse Association’s own Novice Youth Rider, Cody LeCumbre from Fossey Mountain Spring Ranch Timahoe Co Laois. The Region 8 Show was a qualifying show for the AQHA ‘Champion of Champions’, to be held at Oklahoma City Fair Grounds in April 2017. Cody was showing the 2010 American Quarter Horse ‘Boom Boom Pow’, owned by Cyndi Hershey Brown of Get Coached.
Cody showed Boom Boom Pow in Novice Youth Cow Horse Boxing, receiving a plaque for 7th place overall. He also showed off his riding skills at Ranch Riding, placing second twice and receiving Reserve Champion at the Region 8 Championships, within the Level 1 and AQHA Youth Level 1 Divisions. This earned Cody 11 AQHA Level 1 Youth (Novice) points.
Cody has now qualified to show at Level 1 at the AQHA ‘Champion of Champions’ in two classes: Cow Horse Boxing and Ranch Riding. In addition, this is the first time ever an Irish based exhibitor has qualified for the American Quarter Horse Youth Association (AQHYA) World Show in Western Disciplines. On August 5th Cody, under the guidance of Cyndi Hershey Brown, will attend the AQHYA World Show and participate in three events aboard Boon Boom Pow: Ranch Riding, Reining and Western Riding.
Definitely two proud parents, Michael and Esther LeCumbre, as they supported their son in his showing career. His coach and trainer, Cyndi Hershey Brown, was very happy with Cody’s showing abilities aboard her 6 year old gelding, Boom Boom Pow, sired by Boonsmal Cee Lena and out of Ms. Hershey Brown’s own Quarter Horse mare, Texas Tierra.
Presently Cody LeCumbre has enrolled in an internship with elite horse professional Craig Johnson, where he stands to learn an extraordinary amount from the ‘$1 Million Dollar Rider’. The IQHA wish Cody the very best of luck on August 5th, and wish to express our pride in his brilliant achievements.
