Merveldt takes two top three places at La Mandria

IRELAND’S Anna Merveldt took two top three places at La Mandria’s three-star dressage show in Italy this weekend.

Riding her 14 year-old gelding ‘Coryolano’, Canadian-born Merveldt finished in second place on a score of 67 per cent today (Sunday) in the Grand Prix Special class, losing out to an in-form Valentina Truppa from Italy, who topped the competition with 73.08 per cent.

Truppa and ‘Eremo Del Castegno’ also claimed victory on 73.31 per cent in Saturday’s FEI Grand Prix, where 48 year-old Merveldt took third place with a score of 67.27.

Last year Mervedlt claimed three outright victories at La Mandria, also riding ‘Coryolano’.
