Mikey Pender wins the CSI4* Grand Prix in Vejer De La Frontera

Kildare’s Mikey Pender and HHS Calais (ISH) win the CSI4* ANDALUCÌA Grand Prix Final 1.60 in Vejer De La Frontera, Spain on Sunday afternoon.
Pender and HHS Calais (ISH) prove once again to be a fantastic pair as they top the podium two weeks in a row. HHS Calais (ISH), bred by Ita Brennan and owned by Bravo Hughes Ltd, jumped clear in in both rounds and completed the jump-off with the fastest time of 36.84 seconds.
Last weekend Pender and HHS Calais (ISH) won the 1.55m CSI4* Suzuki Grand Prix at the same venue. They were the only combination to clear in the opening round on Spain’s Sunshine Tour and claimed victory without needing a jump off.
Portugal’s Duarte Seabra came in second place followed by Canada’s Kara Chad. Irish rider Niamh McEvoy finished the jump-off with a clear round just over 4 seconds behind Pender.
At the same venue Wexford’s Patrick Hickey and Emelee (ISH) land a win in the CSI4* 1.45m jump-off in Vejer de la Frontera.
A brilliant performance from Patrick Hickey on board Emelee (ISH) lands him a win in the CSI4* 1.45m jump-off in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain on Sunday morning. Emelee is a 9-year-old mare bred by John James Hassett and owned by Catriona Redmond.
When asked about his performance, Hickey said “She’s a fantastic mare that always tries her best. She’s a real fighter. Thanks to Catriona Redmond for trusting me with her”
Ireland’s Ciaran Nallon finished in fourth place with a clear round and just 0.38 seconds behind third.
