CIAN O’Connor claimed a second place in this afternoon’s (Saturday) feature class at the five-star show in La Baule, France with Adena Springs’s mare Quidam’s Cherie.
The Irish Olympic Bronze medallist produced a double clear round in the 13 horse jump-off, and came within seven hundredths of a second of catching World number 12 rider, France’s Patrice Delaveau and Carinjo Hdc, who claimed the Prix RMC trophy.
Afterwards O’Connor, who also placed the mare second in the Winning Round competition at Norten Hardenburg in Germany earlier this month, joked: “When I can just teach her to put her nose out for the finishing line I reckon we’ll have a big win very soon.”
The Irish rider collected 5,000 euro for his second place, while Delaveau took the winner’s prize of 6,000 euro.
La Baule’s Grand Prix takes place on Sunday afternoon.
