Ireland’s superb run of results at the London International Horse Show in Olympia continued on Friday night, as Waterford’s Anthony Condon scored a runner-up finish in the 1m60 Longines Christmas Cracker. Condon delivered a foot-perfect double clear round with the 10-year-old gelding Balzac, whom he owns along with Kat Taylor.
The Irish rider (pictured) was just edged out for victory by former World No.1 Steve Guerdat riding Corbinian. Wexford’s Bertram Allen was among five combinations who jumped clear in the opening round with the exciting eight-year-old Izzy by Picobello and finished fifth after knocking a single fence against the clock.
Friday’s result came on the back of a win in Olympia for Offaly’s Darragh Kenny and Fixdesign Funke van ‘t Heike, while on Thursday night, Antrim’s Christopher Megahey finished as joint winner of the Puissance riding Seapatrick Cruise Cavalier.
Today’s (Saturday) highlights at Olympia include The Christmas Stakes and Christmas Tree Masters, while Sunday’s feature will be the Longines World Cup. The Olympia Grand Prix will conclude five day’s of action at the London venue on Monday.
