Horse Sport Ireland were delighted to sponsor the Mare and Foal Championship class at Barryroe Show on Saturday 13th July.

The class was well supported and judged by Glen Knipe who said ‘I am delighted to be judging such a lovely class with high quality mares and foals. It is great to see the governing body support country shows as it gives breeders, handlers and producers of all ages the opportunity to see what is required in today’s equine industry and to learn from what’s on show. It also affords opportunities to all breeders to showcase their produce should they wish to sell their foals. I felt todays winning mare was an excellent mover and was extremely well put together. She had a filly foal at foot by a TB stallion Munther. I’m sure this foal will grow to be successful in which ever discipline chosen’

Representing Breeding Board member Patrick McCarthy said ‘I am very impressed with the standard of mare and foal shown here today. It is great to see four mares placed in this class that previously competed successfully in the RDS.’
