Offaly’s Darragh Kenny has claimed a podium finish in today’s (Sunday) €1 Million Rolex Grand Prix at the five-star Swiss show in Geneva.
Part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, the competition attracted the world’s top horses and riders, with Ireland represented by Bertram Allen, Shane Sweetnam, Darragh Kenny and Mark McAuley. Kenny was one of 11 riders who made it into the jump-off aboard the Ann Thompson-owned stallion Balou du Reventon. A second clear round for the Irishman in 39.38 seconds saw him take third place on the podium at the finish. Victory went to Germany’s Marcus Ehning with Pret A Tout (38.41), while the home fans saw Swiss favourite Steve Guerdat take runner-up spot with Albfuehren´s Bianca in 38.86.
The result capped a good weekend for Irish riders in Geneva, with Co Louth’s Mark McAuley (pictured) taking a win with Vivaldi du Theil in Saturday’s Speed and Handiness competition.
