Pony Spring Spectacular returns to Cavan

irish-pony-society-logo-hsiTHE second annual IPS Spring Spectacular makes a welcome return to Cavan Equestrian Centre on Saturday and Sunday, April 13th and 14th.

Having attracted entries from all over Ireland, north and south, last year, it is anticipated that attendance will be much stronger this year given the new weekend dates.

There are a host of classes for both horses and ponies over the two days, and the horse classes should be just as popular as last year, having then been a first on the schedule for IPS shows.

Horses feature strongly on the first day, with classes for lightweight/middleweight and heavyweight hunters, as well as smalls, coloureds, cobs, and novice and open workers. There will be championships for the ridden (including small hunters) and worker classes.

The IPS are thrilled to have secured working hunter pony qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show and these will be the highlight of the pony programme on the Saturday, with classes for open working starter stakes, 133cms, 143cms, 153cms and 158cms ponies.

Also taking place on the Saturday will be championships for young handlers, mini ponies, working hunter ponies and open show ponies, amongst others.

There will also be classes for ridden coloureds on the Saturday – an exciting new addition to the schedule.

The novice show pony championship is one of the first to be decided on the Sunday morning, followed by the open show hunters.

The evening performance will be truly spectacular as it will see the crowning of the supreme championship, which will be preceded by the show pony, show hunter, M&M, part-bred, overall mini, working hunter, intermediate, Connemara and starter stakes deciders.

Concessions available for entries made before March 28th. The final closing date for entries is April 4th. The full schedule, along with entry forms, and stabling forms are available for download from www.irishponysociety.com
