Shane Goggins wins final leg of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Series in Galway Equestrian Centre

Carrow Kavanan (ISH) 2011 mare by Kannan (KWPN) out of Cavaliers Princess (ISH) by Cavalier Royale (HOLST)    bred by Declan McGarry owned by Ballywalter Farms and ridden by Shane Goggins jumped double clear in a time of 31.68 seconds to win the 7-Year-Old Final of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Show jumping Series at Galway Equestrian Centre. Shane had the fastest double clear in the 7-year-old class, he beat off stiff competition from the 3 combinations who made it through to the final. In the 5-Year-old final Gemma Phelan jumped the quickest double clear to win, riding ABC Ballycruise (TIH) (ISH) a gelding by Cruising (ISH) out of Arctic Diamond (ISH) by Diamond Lad (ID) bred by Patrick Kehoe and owned by Victoria Foster, who was present to witness the win. While in the 6-Year- Old, MHS Fernhill (ISH) a gelding by Cardento (HOLST) out of MHS Pembrook Lady (ISH) by Guidam (SF) who was bred by Ita Brennan and owned by Carol Gee had a superb round finishing in a time of 32.84. There was €13,500 on offer in Galway Equestrian from the Irish Sport Horse Studbook for these young horse classes.

This year the overall 5-year-old Irish Sport Horse Studbook Series champion was Orestus Clover (ISH) a mare by Orestus (KWPN) out of Optimistic Clover (ISH) by Clover Hill (ID) bred and owned by Ralph Morgan and ridden by Jessica Burke. They finished on a total of 27 league points, having returned very consistent performances. This combination won the league having beat off stiff competition from Catherine Thornton and ABC Caruso (ISH) who finished on 25 points.

The 6-year-old Irish Sport Horse Studbook series league champion was Longfield Quinlui (ISH) a bay mare by Quintender (HOLST) out of Dshlyi (ISH) by Luidam (KWPN) bred by Seamus Drea and owned and ridden by Derek McConnell.  They had 4 double clears throughout the eight leg series and accumulated a total of 24 points.

The 7 Year old ISH Studbook show jumping series league champion was Paciro (ISH) a gelding by Pacino (BWP) out of Ramiro View (ISH) by Ramiro B (BWP) bred by Patrick Flanagan owned by Lorna Daly and ridden by Thomas O’Brien. Thomas O’Brien and Paciro (ISH) having established an unassailable lead remained on top to clench the champion title in Galway yesterday, with 2 wins throughout the series.
