SHOW jumping team manager Robert Splaine has tonight (Monday) announced the squad of riders that will represent Ireland at St. Gallen in Switzerland, and from which he will select the four-strong team for the important Furusiyya Nations’ Cup on Friday, June 6.
They are the same riders who claimed third place for Ireland at last week’s team competition at La Baule in France.
Ireland’s five-man squad at St. Gallen will be: Bertram Allen, Shane Breen, Greg Broderick, Darragh Kenny and Cian O’Connor.
St. Gallen is the third of Ireland’s point-scoring competitions in the top league of world show jumping, and will be followed by the Aga Khan Cup at Dublin Horse Show in August. The first Nations’ Cup in the series for Ireland was Lummen in Belgium earlier this month.
Currently, Ireland holds third position in the first division of the Furusiyya league, which comprises ten nations.
