SSE Airtricity National Schools’ Modern Biathlon
- 15 January 2015, 16:58
PENTATHLON Ireland, in conjunction with SSE Airtricity, are currently running a primary school initiative throughout the country.
The SSE Airtricity National Schools’ Modern Biathlon is a number of run/swim events. Events have already been held in Sligo and Limerick, with great success.
Children aged between 8-13 can come along on the day to swim and run, both separate events (not continuous). In between the two events the organisers provide the children with an opportunity to have a taster of fencing.
The next leg of the SSE Airtricity National Schools Modern Biathlon takes place on February 7th 2015 at ALSAA Sports complex, Old Airport Road, Co. Dublin.
Pentathlon Ireland feels this event has the potential to be a leader in getting children active and having fun outside. As such they have tailored it to take emphasis off competition and encourage all the children to have a go. Each child that enters will receive a goody bag full of school equipment and healthy treats, along with a certificate of their achievement.
