Conor Swail swept to a thrilling victory in last night’s (Friday) $40,000 three-star Hollow Creek Farm Grand Prix at Lexington, Kentucky, with Richie Moloney also making the podium by finishing third.
In an event featuring 42 international riders, American David Beisel took the lead in the jump-off on board Call Me Hannes, with a second clear in 37.12.
Kilkenny rider Moloney then fell just short of the target when he posted his second clear on Alsvid, stopping the timer in 37.55, which proved good enough for third.
Second-last to go was Swail riding Viva Columbia, and the Down rider was clearly not settling for place money as the pairing scorched clear in 35.94 to take the honours.
“Sometimes fortune favours the brave, and today it worked out”, said Swail afterwards.
Both Swail and Moloney will also be chasing the weekend’s biggest purse at the Kentucky venue – the $100,000 Grand Prix, which takes place on Sunday.
