Sweetnam Third In Canadian Cup

IRELAND’S Shane Sweetnam took third place in last night’s (Thursday) 1m50 Cargill Cup at the four-star show in Spruce Meadows, Canada.

Partnering Chaqui Z, the Cork-born rider produced a jump off clear in 44.57, almost a second behind winner Eric Lamaze of Canada on Coco Bongo. El Salvador representative Paulo Santana on Taloubet slotted into second place.
Earlier Sweetnam, who is based in Florida, had taken both 6th and 7th place in the 1m45 class, riding Cyklon and Bijzonder respectively. France’s Eric Navet took top spot in this event on ASB Conquistador.
