Team Ireland Equestrian set for Nations Cup Final in Barcelona

Ireland’s showjumpers will this weekend compete in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final at Barcelona (ESP). The Nations Cup Final is the culmination of the 2016 Series, with a total of 18 teams (9 from Europe, 2 each from North and Central America, South America, Middle East and Asia/Australia and 1 from Africa) having qualified to compete. The final will consist of three competitions. The top eight teams from the opening class will go to the third and final competition, while the remainder will compete in the Longines Challenge Cup. The first round of the Final will take place on Thursday at 15.00 GMT, with the winners being decided in the final round on Sunday at 20.00 GMT.
In eventing, Team Ireland Equestrian’s eventers travel to the Young Rider and Junior European Championship at Montelibretti (ITA). Twenty nations will gather at the Italian venue vying for both Team and Individual medals. Dressage will be held on Thursday and Friday, followed by cross-country on Saturday. On Sunday, the medals will be decided after the showjumping phase.
On the showjumping circuit, Irish riders also compete at New York (USA), Canteleu (FRA), Vittel (FRA), New Albany Ohio (USA), Bonheiden (BEL), Vilamoura (POR) and Darmstadt-Kranichstein (GER). Elsewhere, Ireland will be represented in eventing at Ardingly (GBR) and in dressage at New York (USA).
