Thomastown set for British Riding Clubs National Championships

THOMASTOWN and District Riding Club will represent the Association of Irish Riding Clubs on Saturday at the British Riding Clubs NAF National Championships.

The quartet of Maria Rockett (Its Rico Time (My Irish Paddy)), Tracy O’ Dwyer (My Oscar Wilde), Claire Nulty (Dinin Madam) and captain Niav Cahill (Dinin Sinead) will began their journey this morning (Thursday) to the Lincolnshire Show grounds in Lincoln.

They will compete against the best of the riding clubs in Britain in the NAF Senior Open Team and Individual Show Jumping Championships.

The team will jump in the following order on Saturday morning:

  • 10:36 – Tracy O’ Dwyer (My Oscar Wilde)
  • 11:02 – Claire Nulty (Dinin Madam)
  • 11:28 – Niav Cahill (Dinin Sinead)
  • 11:48 – Maria Rockett (Its Rico Time (My Irish Paddy))

A team representing the Association previously won the Senior Open Team Championship when Greenhills won it in 2010 while Sean Rooney won the Individual Championship in 2006.

A.I.R.C. chairman Tony Ennis said, ”I wish the team the very best of luck and hope they have a safe journey and enjoyable weekend. They are fantastic ambassadors for our Association and I hope their aspirations come true for them as they have trained exceptionally hard for this.”
