  • 12 July 2019, 13:04

Horse Sport Ireland were delighted to once again sponsor the 3-year-old All Ireland Championship in Bannow and Rathangan Show yesterday where Michael Lyons claimed victory with his 3 year old gelding Newmarket Knight (ISH) by Newmarket Venture (HANN) and out of Ballymacs Present (IRE) by Presenting (GB).

There was a total of 16 qualifiers around the country in the months prior to yesterday’s final. A total of 22 horses qualified for this prestigious class. The judges were Walter Kent and John Chugg who were extremely impressed with the standard of 3-year olds being shown. This class attracted an extremely large spectatorship.

Director of breeding and programmes in Horse Sport Ireland Alison Corbally said ‘Its lovely to see such and extensive line of three year olds in Bannow Rathangan Show. It is particularly interesting that the winner was out of a point to point winning mare by Presenting (TB) and by the approved eventing sire Newmarket Venture (HANN). Many congratulations to the breeder Brian Daly from Scarteen Stud, and I would like to wish the very best of luck to Michael Lyons on his journey to Dublin.’
