Young Event Horse Series Kicks off in Tullylish

The first leg of the Young Event Horse Series took place in Tullylish on the 1^st of July 2021. This first leg saw four- and five-year-old young event horses line out to compete for the top five placings and secure their golden tickets to the Performance Championship Final in Lambertstown on the 19^th of September.

MBF Silver Bridge (ISH) claimed victory in the four-year-old Young Event Horse Series class with a final score of 301.6. MBF Silver Bridge (ISH), by Silvano (KWPN) out of My Rochestown Lady (TB) by Beneficial (TB), bred by John Murphy and owned by Carrie Meehan, was ridden by Nicola Ennis. The winner of the five-year-old class was Lady Ferro (ISH), by S Creevagh Ferro X Siebe (KWPN) out of Glenluce (WNTR) by Bustomi (TB). Bred and owned by McLoughlin Bro’s and ridden by Janie Cairns, Lady Ferro (ISH) finished on a final score of 270.2.

 When speaking with Angela McGahern about the first leg of the Young Event Horse Series she noted that ‘The Young Event Horse Series got off to a great start in Tullylish. We had a lovely sunny day, and the course was well manicured and presented. Adam Stephenson was the course builder, and he built a great track. It was very educational for the young horses, as while it posed questions, it was accommodating enough to allow all horses to jump around and gain valuable experience’. Angela went on to say that ‘There was a really good standard of horses presented, and they were all well turned out. The horses that qualified performed well and are deserved of a place in the Performance Championships in Lambertstown later in the year’. Angela concluded that ‘Overall, the day ran very smoothly. Between the Chief Steward on the day, Pat Coleman, and the Equipe app which was used to live stream competition times and results, the whole event ran very efficiently making it even more enjoyable for all involved.’

The next leg of the Young Event Horse Series takes place in Scarteen, Co. Limerick on the 8^th of July, with entries closing at 10pm on the 3^rd of July.
