Irish Carriage Driver Barry Capstick enjoyed significant
success in 2013 when he came 1st in the Horse Pairs
both at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May and at
Sandringham in June. Barry was leading after dressage
at the World Horse Pairs Championships in Topolcianky
in August but was subsequently eliminated during the
marathon phase after a tip-up. Folke Rohrssen came
4th and Annika Rohrssen came 6th in the Horse Pairs at
Sandringham. Matt Were came 2nd in the Horse Singles
at Hopetoun in May.
Ireland saw two dressage riders compete at the
FEI European Dressage Championships in Herning,
Denmark, in August 2013. Roland Tong and Pompidou
finished in 41st place while Dane Rawlins and Sydney
finished in 63rd place. The committee decided that
a High Performance Pony Dressage Squad would
commence in 2014 with the appointment of a High
Performance Manager.
World Equestrian Games with Sam Watson's Horseware Bushman
which he part owns. In 2013, Tom took up international Endurance
riding with the aim of competing at the 2014 World Equestrian Games.
