Training days in the lead-up to competition principally cover assessment of conformation, movement and jump and presentation of horses in hand. The skills gained become invaluable when purchasing a new horse/pony; deciding which mares/stallions to use for breeding; assessing offspring; presenting horses for inspection, sale, show or competition. Senior Young Breeders (18-25) can attend arena party training for loose movement/jumping at HSI Mare and Stallion Inspections. Team enjoyed a superb year in 2013 at the World Championships in Sweden. Each studbook was represented by a Senior Team (20-25) and a Junior Team (17-19). The ISH Studbook Young Breeders Team sponsored by Connolly's Red Mills and one of 20 teams to take part put in an incredible performance to finish as Overall Reserve Champions, second only to the Holstein Studbook team. consisted of Rossa Gallagher (Meath), Iris Brazil (Westmeath), Regina Daniels (Galway), with Ciara Greaney (Dublin) in reserve. Iris Brazil won the Loose Jumping division in the Senior Competition. The ISH Studbook Young Breeders Junior Team won the Junior Competition. The winning team consisted of Alyssa O'Neill (Kildare), Caoimhe Kenny (Laois) and Orla Dooley (Kilkenny), with Ruaidhri Ó'Cianain (Galway) in reserve. Orla Dooley won the Overall Individual Junior Championship and the In-Hand section. Alyssa O'Neill was third and Caoimhe Kenny was fourth overall individually in the Junior Competition.
