National Horse Sport Arena
The National Horse Sport Arena, at the National Sports
Campus in Blanchardstown, was officially opened on 9th
October 2013 by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and
Sport, Leo Varadkar. Located within the Walled Garden of
Abbotstown House, a protected structure, the new arena will
give Irish equestrian athletes access to world-class facilities for
a diverse range of equestrian sports. Developed in accordance
with the High Performance training needs of equestrian riders,
under the technical guidance of Horse Sport Ireland and its
Affiliates, it is the first publicly-owned facility of its kind in
Ireland and will be managed by the National Sports Campus.
The National Horse Sport Arena is the main base for Team
Ireland Equestrian training. With 10 stables on site, athletes
can rest their horses before or after training as required.
Riders can avail of other facilities on site as well as coaching
and rehabilitation services. The arena will be available on a
`community commercial' basis to those aspiring for success in
international competition.
