Registrations timelines and online statuses through Horse Source

Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) would like to update and address the delays customers are currently experiencing with processing of applications through the Horse Source system.

We appreciate the frustrations of breeders regarding the extended periods processing registrations and sincerely apologise to all customers affected by these delays.

HSI also want to assure them that we are doing our utmost to rectify the situation, clear the backlog and reduce the current waiting times.

HSI can provide the following update regarding the timelines of applications for registrations, as well as Change of Ownerships, Naming and Endorsements:

For pedigree registrations:

• Processing Timeframe: Once we receive your completed marking chart and DNA samples, by post, processing generally takes 8 to 12 weeks. However, during high-application periods, it may extend beyond this range.
• Factors Influencing Processing Time:
  • Application Volume: High volumes may extend processing times.
  • Incomplete Information: Please ensure all required details are provided; missing information can delay processing.
  • DNA Testing: DNA results typically take around 19 working days (approximately 4 weeks) if the sire and dam are already SNP DNA tested.

For other requests:

• Change of Ownership, Naming, Non-Pedigree Registrations, and Endorsements: These typically take 2 to 4 weeks to process, once all information received is correct.

Note: Processing times begin only once we receive all necessary documents, including the marking chart and DNA samples for registrations, and passports for other requests. Please also note that paper applications take longer to process due to increased administration.
