Horse Sport Ireland Vetting

Vetting checks are required for any adult working with or responsible for children or vulnerable adults in equestrian sports. Horse Sport Ireland offers Garda vetting checks for relevant work carried out in the Republic of Ireland and Access NI checks for relevant work carried out in Northern Ireland. It is important to note that the check required is based on where the relevant work is being carried out rather than the address of the individual.

Garda Vetting (eVetting) checks are required for any adult working with or responsible for children or vulnerable adults in equestrian sports where the work is carried out in the Republic of Ireland. Garda vetting checks are carried out by Horse Sport Ireland on behalf of all equestrian sporting bodies in Ireland through the National Vetting Bureau (NVB). The NVB provides the only official vetting service in the Republic of Ireland.

Garda vetting applications are now processed online through the eVetting System. However, there is still a paper form requiring ID validation and consent –once you process the payment for an application all details on the process will be shared.

Important points to note before you apply for Garda vetting

Northern Ireland addresses –If you have current/previous addresses in Northern Ireland YOU MUST provide a postcode for these when completing your Garda vetting application. Failure to do so will result in your application being withdrawn. Please see here for guidance and useful links.

HSI applies an administrative cost of €20 per Garda vetting application. Please click HERE to bring you to the payment page. Upon receipt of payment, an automatic email will then be sent to you where the HSI eVetting Invitation and ID verification form will be available for download and completion:

AccessNI checks are required for any adult working with or responsible for children or vulnerable adults in equestrian sports where the work is carried out in the Northern Ireland.
