The group advises HSI and its a liates on matters relating to the health and safety of athletes and on all matters related to safety in equestrian sport. The group met in September and December in 2015 and is comprised of the following members: (Chairman) Dr Mary O'Flynn Flannery, HSI Medical & Anti-doping O cer Dr Antonia Lehane, Medical Equestrian Association of Ireland Dr Susanna Franke, Medical Equestrian Association of Ireland Dr Mary Roycroft, Showjumping Ireland Alison Packman, Eventing Ireland David Abbott, Association of Irish Riding Clubs Linda Young, Association of Irish Riding Establishments Dermot Cannon, Dressage Ireland Programme, a total of 80 horses were sampled with no positive results. Four a liate organisations participated in the programme. Introduced by HSI for horses competing in equestrian competitions in Ireland, the programme is run in conjunction with HSI's a liates and was devised by the HSI Rules Committee. In 2015, a total of 5,096 horses were tested worldwide and 3,594 of those were tested within Group I and II. A total of 122 of those tested from Group I and II were horses and ponies ridden by Irish riders in international competition. All of the samples taken were found to be clean when tested in the FEI laboratories. In 2014, HSI signed up to a Service Level Agreement with the Northern Ireland Sports Forum (NISF), a registered umbrella body with AccessNI, to conduct vetting for members in Northern Ireland. Vetting is carried out by the GCVU and NISF in respect of individuals who are applicants for positions, whether full-time, part-time, voluntary or student placements, within organisations by virtue of which they may have unsupervised access to children or vulnerable adults.
