Please see below, year-to-date figures of Foal Passports, which includes full pedigree and non-pedigree applications, and Other Services, which includes Changes of Ownership and Endorsements & Importations, processed through the Horse Source system. Data is up to date as of Thursday, 14th November, 2024, and updated figures will be provided on a bi-weekly basis.
In the 16 weeks, since the new HorseSource E-Passport was launched in mid-July, Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) has received 5,630 online applications for foal passports. This equates to almost 75% of the total number of passports that were issued for the 2023 period. The take up off the new system has far exceeded what had been expected, based on other examples within the industry. The current position in relation to passports* is that 5,630 applications have been received and foal kits have been issued to 95% of all applicants. About 1,485 foal kits are currently with breeders awaiting the return of marking charts and DNA samples, which is equivalent to more than one quarter (26%) of all applications. A total of 1,026 DNA samples are currently in the laboratory for testing. The testing period for each DNA sample is 19 working days, which is almost a full calendar month. Currently, […]
Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) would like to update and address the delays customers are currently experiencing with processing of applications through the Horse Source system. We appreciate the frustrations of breeders regarding the extended periods processing registrations and sincerely apologise to all customers affected by these delays. HSI also want to assure them that we are doing our utmost to rectify the situation, clear the backlog and reduce the current waiting times. HSI can provide the following update regarding the timelines of applications for registrations, as well as Change of Ownerships, Naming and Endorsements: For pedigree registrations: Processing Timeframe: Once we receive your completed marking chart and DNA samples, by post, processing generally takes 8 to 12 weeks. However, during high-application periods, it may extend beyond this range. Factors Influencing Processing Time: Application Volume: High volumes may extend processing times. Incomplete Information: Please ensure all required details are provided; missing […]
It is with great sadness that Horse Sport Ireland today learned of the death of legendary show jumper, Captain Con Power. Con was one of the finest riders of his generation and enjoyed a sparkling career during the 1970s and 1980s. Beginning his career in the Army Equitation School in 1973, he developed into one of the world’s best riders, with notable successes at Aachen, New York and Toronto, while he was the leading rider at the Dublin Horse Show in 1976 and 1979. Con will forever be remembered for being part of the dream team who won the Aga Khan trophy three times in a row, in 1977, 1978 and 1979, famously being the only rider to ride three different horses. He will never be forgotten and leaves an incredible legacy on equestrian sports in Ireland. His son Robert also enjoyed a spectacular career in the saddle as […]
The Underwriting Exchange Irish Show Jumping Team dominated a field of 18 countries to land the three-star Andalucía October Tour Nations Cup Nations Cup in Vejer, Spain this afternoon. Michael Blake’s team of Mikey Pender, Jason Foley, Seamus Hughes Kennedy and Cian O’Connor led from flagfall and sealed the victory in style, finishing on nine faults and win with plenty in hand. Belgium were second on 15 faults with the USA completing the podium on 17 faults. It is yet another Nations Cup win for Blake and his squad of riders, adding to high-profile successes in the likes of Ocala and Aachen, among others, and the Irish Chef D’Equipe was understandably thrilled with the result. He said: “That was great – I knew we were strong coming in and the course designer had set up a difficult course, with a lot of combinations getting caught out. “But our lads have […]
