DAFM Eventing Studbook Series Final

The final of the DAFM Eventing Studbook Series took place at the Eventing Ireland National championships in Kilguilkey, Cork over the 7th and 8th of September.
The five, six and seven-year-old classes took place over the two days with the young horses completing the dressage and showjumping phases on the Saturday before cross country on the Sunday.
The seven-year-old league was tight with four horses on equal points and in a tie for the win. Despite this, it was the final winner; Cavaliers Cruiz (ISH) ridden by Heidi Hamilton who came out on top of the league. The winning mare was bred in county Wexford by Thomas Norris and is by Cruisings Ambassador (ISH) out of Cavaliers Maid (ISH), by Ghareeb (GB).
The six-year-old section was won by under 25 rider Alannah Kelly riding Cooley Capri Sun (ISH) giving her the overall leading young rider prize in the league. The league leader entering the weekend; Kilcoltrim Cooley (ISH) ridden by Clare Abbott were not to be bet in the overall league picking up second place on the day as well. The league winning horse was bred in county Carlow by Aileen Doyle and is by Plot Blue (KWPN) out of Cavimperius (ISH), by Cavalier Royale (HOLST).
To top off a successful weekend in the young horse sections, Clare Abbott partnered MT Kenobis Touch (ISH) to the win in the five-year-old section. This horse was very consistent across the league, picking up placings at each leg. The winning horse was bred in county Down by Gareth Carlisle and is by Mullaghdrin Touch The Stars (ISH), out of Lux So Easy (ISH), by Lux Z (HANN). Sadhbh Bolger and Grantstown Imperial (ISH) also picked up points across the series to finish up third in the league and the overall highest placed young rider.
