Leg 5 of the DAFM Studbook Series, delivered by Horse Sport Ireland; the National Federation, took place in Cork’s Maryville Stables at their Premier Series Grand Prix Show on July 6th, after a break in the series for the month of June to facilitate the RDS qualifiers.

This was the final one-day leg before the final two legs in National Balmoral and Tattersalls which are both two-day shows.

In the 7-Year-Old class it was the ever-consistent BP Tiny Dancer (ISH) and Niamh McEvoy that took the victory for owner Sarah Tredennick. Small in stature but giant in heart, BP Tiny Dancer is by Plot Blue (KWPN) out of the acclaimed mare Uptown Girl (SSH) by Concorde (KWPN) who was a multi winner in her own right nationally at 1.35m and 1.40m level for Daniel Coyle.
She crossed the line in a time of 26.61 seconds to finish ahead of Michael Pender with the homebred Madgeslane Louis (ISH) in a time of 26.97 and Shane Dalton on the Ennisnag Stud’s Warmblood Studbook of Ireland-approved stallion Mendoza VDL (KWPN) in a time of 27.38.
Shane O’Reilly remains the league leader with BWE Special Rose (ISH).

In the 6-Year-Old class, 29 horse and rider combinations jumped double clear to divide the prize money. Amongst those horses to jump clear was a repeat performance of the result from Barnadown as featured among the double clear rounds, were two Preliminary Approved stallions within the Irish Sport Horse Studbook; Boleybawn Alvaro (ISH) and Sandro Van De Berghoeve (BWP) again ridden as in Barnadown by Niamh McEvoy and Max Foley respectively. Also jumping double clear was the combination that took the runner-up spot in the Consolation Final for 5-Year-Old horses at the 2023 FEI WBFSH World Breeding Championship for Young Showjumping Horses in Lanaken, Belgium; Jump The Gun (WSI) and Co. Waterford’s Nicholas Connors.
Max Foley’s double clear round with Sandro Van De Berghoeve round now puts him just one point behind league leader Vincent Byrne with CSF Thomascourt Zena (ISH) as the DAFM Studbook Series moves to its penultimate leg in Balmoral.

In the 5-Year-Old class, among the double clears were ABC Jaytee Flamenco (ISH) ridden by Molly Hughes-Bravo and bred by Pat Kehoe in Co Carlow. This gelding is by the recently deceased international Grand Prix winning stallion of Billy Twomey’s Je t’Aime Flamenco (BWP) and out of ABC Tiny Dancer (ISH) who counts the international perfromers ABC Quantum Cruise (ISH), ABC Cortana Cruise (ISH) and the 2022 6-Year-Old World Champion ABC Saving Grace (ISH) amongst her siblings.
Shane Dalton was back amongst the double clear rounds again for Co. Kilkenny’s Ennisnag Stud with the Warmblood Studbook Ireland-approved stallion Uricas HH Z (ZANG) to put their first points on the board.
Brendan Murphy and Kincullia Draco (ISH) still sit at the top of the 5-Year-Old table of the as we approach the last two legs of the 2024 DAFM Studbook Series, delivered by Horse Sport Ireland; the National Federation.
