The Underwriting Exchange Irish Jumping Team are back in five star action at Hickstead this afternoon in the last major Nations Cup assignment before coming home for the Dublin Horse Show.

Ireland faces seven nations as they do battle for the Agria Nations Cup of Great Britain, joining the hosts, European champions Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden and United Arab Emirates in the line-up.

Horse Sport Ireland High Performance Show Jumping Manager Michael Blake has handed a senior debut to Sean Monaghan, who partners Toyger after the pair have impressed of late.

Monaghan joins Cian O’Connor with Canbella Blue PS, David Simpson with Pjotr van de Kruishoeve and Jordan Coyle with Chaccolino, another who has been in excellent form recently.

Blake said: “It’s a new quartet, and I’m really pleased for Sean that he is making his debut in the green jacket. He has been really impressing recently and very much deserves his call-up.

“Jordan is the same, he has been racking up five-star wins, and did so again here yesterday so he is riding with loads of confidence.

“Cian will lead us off here as first man in and there’s not many better in the world than him, while David has been rock solid for us in Nations Cups, so while there are some very strong line-ups in the field, we’re hopeful of a strong result.”

Ireland has been drawn third to jump of the eight nations, and the action begins at 2.15pm. The competition will be streamed live on Clipmyhorse TV and we will keep Irish fans updated on or social media platforms.
