Two Irish Draught Stallions awarded Gold Merits for their Showing Progeny

Horse Sport Ireland, on behalf of the Irish Draught Horse Studbook, is delighted to announce the awarding of a Gold Merit to two stallions based on their progeny’s showing results.

The first of those stallions is the 2024 Champion Irish Draught Stallion from the RDS Dublin Horse Show, Moylough Supremacy (IDC1).
Bred by the late John Gilboy in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, and owned by Patrick Hoare in Moylough Stud in Co. Galway.

Moylough Supremacy (IDC1) Gold Merit Stallion at the 2020 Irish Draught Stallion Selections

Sired by Carrabawn Cross (IDC1), this 2017 stallion is out of the Castana (IDC1) mare Ardcarne Vilamear (RID) by Castana (IDC1) and is a full brother to Moylough Legacy (IDC1).
This dam line has also produced the Class 1 Irish Draught stallions;

• Castlegar Cool Mist (IDC1), 2014, S by Castlegar Rebel (IDC2) out of Coolagh Mist (RID) by All the Diamonds (IDC1).
• Hollypark Diamond (IDC1), 2015, S by Castlegar Fin Grove (IDC1) out of Coolagh Mist (RID) by All the Diamonds (IDC1).
• Castlegar Cool Grove (IDC1), 2016, S by Castlegar Fin Grove (IDC1) out of Coolagh Mist (RID) by All the Diamonds (IDC1).

To be awarded the Gold Merit for Showing progeny, a stallion must have produced five distinctive progeny that each have achieved 1st in Championship classes held at the RDS, RUAS, any of the five national ISA Championships and the two national breed societies’ shows.

For Moylough Supremacy, those progeny were:

• Kenny Bell’s 2024 colt foal by Moylough Supremacy out of Castleview Farmers Lady (IDC1) by Tors Gentleman Farmer (IDC1)
  • Winner of the ID colt foal class at the RDS Dublin Horse Show 2024
• Patrick Murphy’s 2023 colt foal by Moylough Supremacy out of Puntabeg Emmas Star (IDC1) by Gortfree Hero (IDC1)
  • Winner of the Colt Foal class and Champion Foal at the IDHBA National Show 2023.
• Feliod Supreme Jackpot, 2023 ID colt by Moylough Supremacy out of Puntabegs Lady (IDC1) by Tors Gentleman Farmer (IDC1).
  • Bred by Patrick Murphy. Winner of the Moorebennhall Yearling ID Colt class at the 2024 IDHBA GB National Show.
• Castle View Lady Supremacy, 2022 ID filly by Moylough Supremacy out of Castleview Farmers Lady (IDC1) by Tors Gentleman Farmer (IDC1).
  • Bred by Kenny Bell. Winner of the All-Ireland ID Filly Foal Championship in Ballinasloe ISA 2022.
• Cloughroe Ellie May, 2024 ID filly foal by Moylough Supremacy out of Dam Castleview Lady Georgina (IDC1) by Castleview Inisfree Farmer (IDC1).
  • Bred by Valerie Davis. Winner of the ID Foal Class and Champion foal at Balmoral RUAS Show 2024.

Inisfree The Iron Cross (IDC1) Gold Merit Stallion at the 2017 Irish Draught Stallion Selections

Also being awarded a Gold Merit for his Showing progeny is Inisfree The Iron Cross (IDC1).
This stallion was bred in Co. Mayo by Eddie Murphy and owned by Richard & Martina Murphy.

Sired by Inisfree The Holy Grail (IDC1), this 2014 stallion is out of Inisfree Grey Knave (RID) by Annaghdown Star (IDC1), Inisfree The Iron Cross has two full sisters that are also Class 1; Inisfree Little Gem (IDC1) and Inisfree Grey Maiden (IDC1).
This damline has also produced the stallion Kilmovee White Hero (IDC1) by Crannagh Hero (IDC1) out of Kilmovee White Carnation (RID) by Carrabawn View (IDC1).
