Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) has now issued 6125 foal passports to breeders through the Horse Source online passporting system.

Through the week ending April 11th; from the 6125 completed foal passports, 5631 are pedigree applications. This comes from a total of 7229 applications, which also includes non-pedigree applications. The number of non-pedigree applications completed is now 494.

It is important to note that, to date, 611 foal kits have not been returned from breeders to HSI for pedigree applications, with the 5631 pedigree foal passports issued to breeders equating to 94% of pedigree applications having passports issued, where DNA has been provided by customers.

9% of DNA Kits have not been returned to HSI from breeders. Once these are received, they can be sent to the laboratory and the applications processed and completed.

HSI has processed 99% of applications that have DNA results back from the laboratory and the remainder are currently being quality control-checked, ahead of being processed.

There are currently just 55 applications in progress being processed by the HSI registrations team, where DNA samples have been returned to HSI from the laboratory.

HSI would like to advise that from the 2nd of May, we will begin publishing figures for the 2025 breeding season.
