Denis Lynch wins Spanish Longines Grand Prix at La Coruña

Tipperary”s Denis Lynch and Ruben’s LS La Silla claimed the winners prize of over €75,000 in Saturday evenings five-star Longines Grand Prix at La Coruña in Spain.
Just four of the 36 starters made it into the jump-off, with Lynch posting what proved proved the winning clear round when second to go against the clock. Dutchman Marc Houtzager would finish as runner-up with Sterrehof’s Dante, while Britain’s Robert Whitaker slotted into third place with Catwalk IV.
Lynch picked the ride on Rubens LS La Silla back in August, with the 13-year-old stallion having previously been ridden by the Ireland’s Conor Swail.
Speaking after his win, a delighted Lynch said:
“I was lucky because my horse is not the fastest, but it has a lot of experience. He was calm, he turned very well and I am very happy. ”
La Coruña will host the latest round of the Longines FEI World Cup series on Sunday afternoon.
