2016 ISH Studbook Young Horse Eventing Championship

This year Horse Sport Ireland is introducing a new ISH Studbook Young Horse Eventing Championship which will take place at the Ballindenisk International Horse Trials, Co. Cork, on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September 2016. This Championship aims to identify, evaluate and reward owners of young horses that are capable of performing at the highest level in international eventing and will replace the ISH Studbook Eventing Series for this year.
The Championship will have an overall prize fund of €25,000 and will consist of classes for 4, 5 and 6 year old horses and a class for 5 and 6 year old ponies. The winner of the 6 year Old class will be presented the Michael Leonard Trophy. Commenting on the inaugural ISH Studbook Young Horse Eventing Championship, HSI Director of Breeding and Programmes, Alison Corbally stated “Similar young horse championships are well established in other countries and we hope to emulate their success and provide breeders and producers of Irish event horses with the opportunity to win significant prize money and promote their horses to national and international buyers.”
