  • 15 December 2020, 17:33

Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) is delighted to announce the first coach education webinars of 2021. The webinars cover a wide range of topics; from sport psychology to veterinary and include some incredible speakers.

We kick off the year with an intriguing event which will ensure coaches can assist their riders to achieve their set goals for the year. ‘The Chimp Paradox’ is a mind management programme developed by Professor Steve Peters This mind management model is used by high level athletes and coaches around the world with great success, including by Sir Chris Hoy, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Victoria Pendleton.

The workshop will provide an introduction to the Chimp Model and will provide insight into how the mind can help and hinder performance.

It will focus on exploring the practical application of the concept to your professional and sporting environments.

The event will be facilitated by Dr Anna Waters, Managing Director and Psychologist with Chimp Management. Anna works with several sporting bodies including the British Olympic Federation, British Equestrian Federation (BEF) and the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC).

Bookings are open to all and the material will be especially suited to Level 2 and 3 coaches  Places are limited  so book early to avoid disappointment.

Later in the month sees the return of top international sport horse farrier Haydn Price. Following the success of his first webinar HSI are delighted to announced that Haydn will be returning for a series of events throughout spring 2021.

’The Hoof; Form and Function’ will be delivered in two events, the first in January and the second in March 2021.

Haydn will discuss the evolutionary design of the hoof and explain how it works. The webinars are aimed towards coaches of all levels but are open to anyone who has an interest in the area.

Haydn is the consultant farrier to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Elite Performance Programme and former farrier to the Team GB Dressage and Show Jumping Teams.

In 2013, Haydn was inducted into the International Farriery Hall of Fame for his continued services, commitment and education to the International Farriery Profession. Before this, in 2011, he was awarded the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) Medal of Honour for his continued contribution to farriery.
