Ireland drawn seventh for Friday’s Swiss Nations Cup

IRELAND is drawn seventh of eight teams to jump at tomorrow’s (Friday) Swiss Nations’ Cup in St. Gallen.
St. Gallen is the second of four five-star venues where the Irish teams can garner points towards their overall placing at the end of the 2013 Division One series, and will therefore be an important result for team manager Robert Splaine, who saw Ireland finish third in the world at the end of 2012.
Splaine announced the jumping order of his St. Gallen team this evening (Thursday), and the Irish will line out as follows:
Cian O’Connor/Blue Loyd
Capt. Michael Kelly/Annestown (ISH)
Shane Carey/Ballymore Eustace
Shane Breen/Balloon
Jumping is due to start at 2pm and can be seen live on www.feitv.org.
Ireland’s other two opportunities to accumulate points will be at Aachen in Germany at the end of June, and the Aga Khan competition in Dublin, Ireland at the beginning of August.
In their first outing of the series at La Baule, France in May, Ireland finished joint third, but are currently placed fifth overall in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup rankings after a Ukrainian win at Rome last week.
