In his show jumping career he has competed at two Olympic Games, and has two team bronze medals from these, one from Seoul in 1988 and one from Barcelona in 1992.
Michel has jumped at four World Equestrian Games (WEG), from which he has two silver medals from The Hague in 1994, then a team bronze from the Games in Aachen in 1986 and an individual bronze and a team gold from the championships in Dublin in 1982. His last WEG was in Aachen in 2006 where he rode Galet d’Auza.
Michel has competed at nine European Championships, and has picked up six medals – one individual silver medal in Gijon in 1993, and four team silvers and a team bronze.
He was also victorious in the 2009 Final of the Global Champions Tour at Doha, but rates as his most memorable moment winning the World Championships with his team at the Dublin Horse Show in 1982 when he was 34 years old.
Riding since the age of four, Michel competed in Eventing at his first Olympics in 1972, before switching to show jumping.
Michel also carries out training courses at his Horse Academy in France.
