ISH Young Breeders National Competition 2016

The ISH Young Breeders National Competition takes place at Teagasc Kildalton Agricultural College on Thursday November 3rd 2016. The National Competition is jointly organised by Horse Sport Ireland and Teagasc and is open to any individual aged between 13 and 24 years on the 1st of January 2016.

Competitors will be divided into three age groups: Youth 13 & 14 years; Junior 15 to 18 years; Senior 19 to 24 years.  The competition will consist of the following four elements:

  1. Theory test
  2. Judging the gaits of horses loose in the arena and loose jumping
  3. Judging mares on conformation
  4. Presenting a horse in hand

The results of the National Competition will be used to form a panel from which the teams may be selected to represent the Irish Sport Horse Studbook in the 2017 WBFSH Young Breeders World Championship scheduled to be held in Calgary, Canada next July.

The entry fee for The ISH Young Breeders National Competition is €20. Booking must be made in advance at https://www.teagasc.ie/animals/equine/ish-young-breeders-programme/events/ Closing date for entries is Thursday October 27th 2016.
