Mayo/Roscommon Breeders Group foal performance class

  • 3 August 2016, 13:52

Earlier this year, HSI announced that €125,000 had been allocated to a Breeding Grant in 2016 for the sponsorship and support of classes at equestrian shows and events. Mayo/Roscommon Breeders Group will be running their annual performance foal class, which will be held at Roscommon Agricultural Show on 20th August 2016. HSI will be allocating €1,500 towards showjumping and eventing performance foal classes, in recognition of showing an innovative class design and specifically aiming to evaluate performance potential in the presented foals.

The aim of the class is to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred foals for the equestrian disciplines of showjumping and eventing, in line with the goals of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook and the recent “Reaching New Heights” breeding recommendations.

Foals are presented loose alongside the mare individually for evaluation by a HSI approved inspector for conformation and movement. A team of skilled Young Breeders shall be available to assist in the presentation of mares and foals on the day.

All entries will be professionally photographed and videoed on the day with footage uploaded to YouTube after the event.  Entries belonging to paid up members of the Mayo/Roscommon Breeders Group will be advertised for sale on the Irish Horse Gateway website.

The schedule, entry forms and information are now available at the following link and entries close on Wednesday 17th August – http://roscommonagriculturalshow.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2016-Schedule.pdf.
