SPLAINE ANNOUNCES IRISH TEAM FOR TONIGHT’S AACHEN NATIONS’ CUP
- 16 July 2014, 23:58
IRISH show jumping manager Robert Splaine this morning (Thursday) announced his team for the Aachen Nations’ Cup in Germany, which takes place at 6.30pm today.
Ireland is drawn second to compete of eight teams, and will jump in the following order:
Darragh Kenny/Imothep
Shane Breen/Golden Hawk
Cameron Hanley/Living the Dream
Denis Lynch/All Inclusive NRW
Splaine said: “Aachen is one of the great five-star shows in the world. This is not a points-gathering competition for us, as it’s outside the Furusiyya league, but it is a great opportunity for some new Irish combinations to rise to the challenge at this very high level.
“With the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Normandy not now far off, the Aachen Nations’ Cup will provide additional information to help when it comes to making the selection in August for the WEG, which is also an Olympic qualifier, as are the European championships next year. Obviously Olympic qualification would have huge benefits for everyone involved, and also for the country.”
Video livestream of the Aachen Nations’ Cup will be available here.
