Shane Breen wins Hickstead Derby trial with Can Ya Makan

Tipperary’s Shane Breen has had the perfect preparation for Sunday’s world famous Hickstead Derby, taking victory in today’s Bunn Leisure Derby Trial at The All England Jumping Course in Sussex.
Breen and the Team Z7-owned 12-year-old gelding Can Ya Makan, were one of five combinations who made it through to the jump-off and they produced the fastest clear in the second round (57.76) to take the winners prize of €8,000.
Sligo’s Richard Howley finished fourth with Notis Me, while Harold Megahey (Braveheart), Clem McMahon (Pacifico (ISH), Elizabeth Power (Doonaveeragh O One (ISH) and Anthony Condon (Cavalier Rusticana) all finished in the top 10.
The Al Shira’aa sponsored Hickstead Derby takes place on Sunday.
