Michael Blake names Irish team for Sunday’s Nations Cup clash in Norway

Irish Show Jumping team manager Michael Blake has named his team for tomorrow’s (Sunday) three-star Nations Cup which takes place at Drammen in Norway. Ireland have been drawn first to jump of the five teams that take part and Blake has named a entirely new team from the one that finished as runners-up in the Czech Nations Cup in Prague last weekend.

The Irish team, which includes two Irish Sport Horses, will line out as follows:

Tipperary’s Shane Breen with Z7 Ipswich – owned by Team Z7 & Shane Breen

Clare’s Eoin McMahon with Chacon 2  – owned by Madeleine Winter-Schulze

Carlow’s Jason Foley with Castlefield Vegas (ISH)  – owned by Martin Egan

Mayo’s Michael G Duffy with Lapuccino 2 (ISH) – owned by Carl Hanley Sporthorses

Irish riders have been in good form already this weekend in Drammen, with Shane Breen winning Friday’s feature world ranking class with the Carmel Ryan owned and bred stallion Compelling Z, while there was also an Irish win at the same venue on Friday for Kilkenny’s Jack Ryan with the 8-year-old gelding Hollywood.

Ryan once again proved unbeatable in the Drammen Derby when he guided Essenar High Hopes to victory. Shane Breen finished fifth in the same competition with Can Ya Makan while Harry Allen took seventh place with Corcon.

The Norwegian Nations Cup in Drammen starts at 11am Irish time tomorrow Sunday and is live on Clip My Horse TV.
