 Additional viewing days for young horses aiming for the FEI-WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championships for Young Horses 2021, Lanaken – Belgium announced.

Horse Sport Ireland are delighted to announce an opportunity to foreign bred horses (WBFSH registered studbooks) 5, 6 and 7-year-old horses being produced in Ireland to compete in viewing days for FEI horse quota Lanaken selection, the viewing days in both Barnadown and Tipperary are made possible with generous sponsorship from Connolly’s RED MILLS. By running these  additional classes for all WBFSH, 5, 6 and 7-year-old young horses, these venues are assisting the owners and riders of these horses to develop the competition record of their horses in Ireland prior to the FEI WBFSH Young horse championships in Belgium this year.  These classes are open to all World Breeding Federation for Sport Horse breeds of horse (Irish and Foreign) and will significantly assist in the selection of the FEI quota horses.

While the FEI/WBFSH Young Horse Show jumping Championship (Lanaken) schedule is not available yet for the 2021 event, historically the FEI quota horses have been defined as:

“Horses ridden by Irish FN licenced rider’s but not included in the WBFSH Quota system”.  In simple terms, these are horses that have a studbook passport, which is a WBFSH breed, other than Irish Sport Horse or Warmblood studbook of Ireland.

In preparation for a results-based selection process the following venues will host these additional classes with the prize fund sponsored by Connolly’s RED MILLS.

• 4th July Barnadown
• 14^th July Tipperary Equestrian Centre

Eligibility for the classes at these shows:

• All WBFSH breeds, are eligible to compete. (Therefore, all WBFSH member studbook horses, both foreign bred studbook horses and Irish bred Studbook horses can compete)

5 Year Olds:

• At each event the classes will be run as a jump-off class (Article 273, 3N 3.2, Table A -First Round – not against the clock but with time allowed, 2^nd round, not against the clock but with time allowed).
• The height bands of 1m20 will apply for first-round and 1m25 for second round.

6 Year Olds:

• At each event, the classes will be run as a jump-off class (Article 273, 3N 3.2, Table A -First Round – not against the clock but with time allowed, 2^nd round, not against the clock but with time allowed).
• The height bands of 1m25 will apply to the first-round course and 1m30 for the second round. Open water with a pole over it will be included.

7 Year Olds:

• At each 3 qualifying events, the class will be run as a jump-off class (Article 238/2.2, Table A with one jump-off).
• The height bands of 1m35 will apply in first-round and 1m40 for the second round. Open water with a pole over it will be included.
