Many equestrian fans will have noticed the proliferation of equine hydrotherapy as part of equine training programmes in recent years. The reality is equine hydrotherapy has been around for quite some time, but with the rise of social media you now see top athletes such as Cian O’Connor and Cathal Daniels regularly incorporating hydrotherapy into their horses training.
Here is what Cian O’Connor had to say about the use of hydrotherapy as part of his horses’ training programmes: “I’m very much behind it. The benefits of hydrotherapy are of huge interest to us at Karlswood and that’s why we have a purpose-built spa barn”.
But hydrotherapy is not just for high-performance horses! If you would like to better understand the benefits of hydrotherapy and how it can be incorporated into different training and rehabilitation programmes, why not check out our upcoming webinar with hydrotherapy expert Fiona FitzGibbon.
Fiona is an Equine Hydrotherapist who specialises in the use of water treadmills for Equine Rehabilitation and performance, working in international competition yards worldwide such as Cian O’Connor’s Karlswood Stables, Coolmore Showjumping and Bourns Sport. Fiona trains horses to use water treadmills and spas and then develops programmes for each individual horse, working with dressage horses, racehorses, show horses, hunters, eventers, show ponies, event ponies etc. All from beginner level up to Grand Prix.
