Tipperary’s Shane Breen and the Team Z7-owned stallion Laith have scored a commanding win in today’s (Friday) two-star Grand Prix at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
They were among seven combinations who made it into the jump-off where they went on to finish almost two seconds faster than their nearest rivals. Breen and the 12-year-old Laith crossed the line clear in 39.31 seconds, with Denmark’s Tina Lund and Indiana van Klapscheut finishing as runners-up with a time of 41.28.
Shane Breen is part of the Irish team that will line out in the Longines FEI Nations Cup in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. He will be joined by his brother Trevor Breen, Louth’s Mark McAuley and Derry’s David Simpson.
