Foal Championships entries for Maryville now open

After the success of the first leg of the Horse Sport Ireland Foal Championships last weekend, there are five remaining regional qualifiers spread across the country for both horses and ponies in different disciplines, with prize funds totals up to €30,000.

The final will be held on the 19th of October in Cavan Equestrian Centre, where the champions will be named, and the generous prizes will be handed out.

This year, entries will be made online, payments are made directly to the venues via our online submissions. Entries cost €40 and will close 3 working days before the show day. Foals must be lead and should be shown with their dam where possible.

Foals are permitted to enter one regional qualifier but are not confined to the region of their owner. At each qualifier, two horse and two pony foals will be chosen for the finals.

Tuesday 6th September – Maryville Stables, Cork
Wednesday 14th September – Wexford Equestrian Centre
Tuesday 20th September – Creagh Equestrian Centre, Galway
Tuesday 27th September – Coilog Equestrian Centre, Kildare
Monday 3rd October – Tubberbride Equestrian Centre, Sligo

The aim of the Foal Championship is to identify, evaluate, and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest level in the disciplines of Show Jumping or Eventing. These classes are for performance potential, foals will be presented in front of the judges and judged on their conformation and movement and scored out of 100. Foals must be registered in DAFM or WBFSH studbook and must be registered and microchipped for the final.
