Foal passport turnaround times

Horse Sport Ireland’s current processing time for foal passports is 8–10 weeks from receipt of a completed application.

The largest contributor to the time it takes to produce a passport is the DNA testing which takes between 4-8 weeks. We are working closely with our laboratory partner, Weatherbys Scientific, to expedite any outstanding DNA results beyond the standard processing times.

If your application is still within the early stages of passport production, please allow sufficient time for us to process your passport before getting in touch with us. If you require a sales letter, you can request this by email to info@horsesportireland.ie with the subject line ‘Sales Letter’ and we will issue this promptly.

As previously announced, the price to register a foal is due to increase by €19 for those applications received after October 31^st. HSI is now extending that by two weeks – until November 14th, due to the delays outlined above.

The cost to register the same foal as a yearling next year is substantially higher than the fee to register them in their year of birth as a foal. For more information on our fees see Registrations Fees 2023
