HSI Foal Championship Qualifier at Wexford Equestrian, 3rd October

The penultimate qualifier of the Horse Sport Ireland Foal Championship took place yesterday at Wexford Equestrian. With 40 entries across the 5 categories of Pony Eventing Foal, Pony Show Jumping Foal, Horse Eventing Foal and Horse Showjumping Foal, and a Traditional Irish Horse Foal.

Judges on duty were Cathy Cooper and Andrew Williams. The competition started at 12pm with the Pony Showjumping Foal category being seen first in the arena. The winners of each category will now go in to compete in the Final of the Foal Championship on the 25th October in CoilÓg Equestrian Centre.

The winner of the Pony Showjumping Foal category was Stephen McDonald’s colt foal Jasmine’s Olly (ISP) sired by Weststar Sunny (CP) out of Dancing Jasmine (ISH) by Moores Clover (ISH).

Jerry Moloney’s (LHI) who was reserve in the Pony Showjumping category by Hilin Oriole (WPS), out of Menai Sophia (WPB) Newtonhill Naughty Boy Charlie (WPB)

Pony Eventing was the next category of the day. The winner of this class was Eileen Furlong’s colt foal Thistletown Apollo (ISP) by Castlefield Kingston (OS), out of Thistletown Olympia (ISH) who is by Olympic Lux (KWPN).

Reserve in the Pony Eventing section went to Jerry Moloney’s filly Barryroe Princess Honeysuckle (LHI) by Hilin Oriole (WPB) out of Paulank Lady Lucia (WSB) damsire Ceulan Lord Luke (WPC).

The Horse foal categories commenced in the afternoon, with the winner of the Horse Eventing foal section being named as Daniela Cardillo-Corr’s colt Bawnlusk Constantino (ISH), by Continental Blue (OS), out of Soolmoy Lady (ISH) by OBOS Quality (OLD).

Daniela Cardillo-Corr’s Bawnlusk Constantino (ISH), by Continental Blue (OS), out of Soolmoy Lady (ISH) by OBOS Quality (OLD) is named winner of the Horse Eventing Foal category.

Eftim Ivanoff and his filly foal were presented with the reserve title for the Horse Eventing section. Sired by Jericho de Hus (SF) out of Castletown Grace (ISH) by Imperial Hights (ISH).

In the Eventing section was also the Traditional Irish Horse section. This was won by Donal Goland’s Ballinglen Next Generation (ISH)[TIH], by Financial Reward (TB) out of Ballinglen Cruise Girl (ISH)[TIH] by Rebel Mountain (ID).

The TIH reserve was Edward Ryan’s colt foal by Pointilliste (TB), out of Perfect Grey (ISH)[TIH] by Lansdown (ID).

 

The final section for the opening qualifier was the Horse Show Jumping Foal category. Catriona Redmond and her colt foal BLF Ollee by Zirocco Blue VDL (SF), out of Emelee (ISH) by Emerald van’t Ruytershof (BWP) took the win in this section.

Reserve winner of this class was Tracy Walsh’s colt foal Ballinaguilkey Emerald (ISH) by Emerald van’t Ruytershof (BWP) out of Ballinaguilkey Drama Queen (ISH) by Heritage Fortunas (HANN).
